Android 7.0 Nougat already is a reality, has arrived the mobile Nexus this same week and already many users is rub the hands by the possible update of their mobile to the new system operating. Although some might not receive it if you have a processor from Qualcomm. And it is that today we have known that some of these processors may not be fully compatible with the new operating system. It would be the Snapdragon 800 and 801. We will see the reason why this update might not be compatible.
They are already several terminals these processors which remain without Android Nougat, from the Z3 Xperia Nexus 5, and many others that most likely is that do not have a definitive version of this new OS.
The majority of mobile with 800 and 801 Snapdragon will not receive it
801 Snapdragon processors and Qualcomm 800 have quad-core, are 32-bit architecture Krait and manufactured in a 28nm process and integrate connectivity and GPU own processor. Mobile phones with these processors executed without problem Android 6.0 Marshmallow, it would be expected that they did well also in Nougat. But the real problem is that Qualcomm has decided not to upgrade the API drivers graphic Vulkan for these processors, which puts in the spotlight upgrade to 7.0 Android Nougat of these terminals.
Now well, many of them mobile with these processors still is found within the program of updates “mandatory” from the manufacturer, and despite this the majority not them updated by this problem with the API Vulkan. The question is if the current driver performance will suffice to move Android 7.0 Nougat, something of what manufacturers are quite suspicious. That would be the key to not offer the update, the not be able to guarantee 100% optimum performance without the right software for this API.
In any case it’s just a rumor, and there is no official information that supports it. We have already seen how some allegedly incompatible terminals like Nexus 5 already enjoy 7.0 Android Nougat, because if my Nexus 4 or a Galaxy S3 enjoy Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow perfectly, why not going to do the same these devices with Snapdragon 800 or 801. As you say, want is power, and that is what manufacturers need to focus and what not, Google also, to ensure maximum compatibility in all terminals.
